This is the 1975 true first published simultaneously in Canada and the UK ; B&W Illustrations; 8.50 X 5.40 X 0.70 inches; 168 pages; Roger Chapman and Roger Mallinson were manning the 2 man submersible, Pisces III which was being used in laying the transatlantic cable. In late August 1973 during a routine dive, something went amiss, their aft sphere flooded during the surface recovery at the end of their dive and they found themselves heading stern first towards the bottom. The tow line snapped and they counted off the depth markers until they hit bottom stern first at 1575 feet. Unable to move the vessel themselves they had to rely on help from above. Resources were employed from Canada, the US and the UK to salvage the Pisces III and save the lives of the 2 divers. It took 3 1/2 days to recover the vessel and bring it to the surface. This is Chapman's account of the hair raising experience.
